Now,
help of saints and seers is also being sought to prevent malaria in
Simhastha Mela area at Ujjain. For this, Health Department is imparting
training to identify mosquito larvae of malaria to 4 followers each of every
camp of saints and seers. This was informed at a meeting of special health
committee constituted for Simhastha by Principal Secretary Health Smt. Gauri
Singh at department's district training centre at Ujjain today.
Over
6000 persons are reporting daily at OPDs of temporary hospitals in Mela
area. So far, about 20 thousand persons' health has been restored by
administering them medicines.
Surveys
to detect malaria larvae are being conducted since April 12 in Kal Bhairav,
Mangalnath, Dutt Akhada, Mahakal, Chamunda and Triveni zones. In these
areas, 176028 containers and other water sources were checked in 4773 tents
and houses. On these, 15107 ml medicines were sprayed. Insecticide Alfasiper
Matherine 5 percent was sprayed in over 43 thousand rooms. In this process,
478 kg medicines were used.
Fogging
through fogging machines has been undertaken in total 19532 rooms in tents,
pandals, Ashrams, Akhadas etc in all the sectors. The meeting was informed
that devotees are constantly being informed of methods to prevent malaria.
Not only this, imparting training to identify mosquito larvae of malaria to
4 followers each of every camp of saints and seers. They have also been
advised to change water in 4-5 days. The Principal Secretary directed for
publicity through public address system in Mela area. Health staff deployed
at various ghats will be given special jackets to give for identification.
